Initially inspired by Pope Saint John Paul II’s call for a New Evangelization, Mr. Jay Boren chose to dedicate himself to Catholic education so that he could “truly educate his students in the beauty of our Faith.” Mr. Boren moved to MA all the way from Mobile, AL to take the helm at SBCA where he believes the classical curriculum “offers our faculty an opportunity to truly form our students’ whole person through exposing them to all that is True and beautiful.” Mr. Boren is passionate about college football and training his labrador retrievers, and loves spending time with his wife [...]

Hadley holds a B.A. in English from Providence College. Passionate about literature, storytelling, community building, education, and working with children, Hadley has spent the past twelve years as an Enrollment Management professional across a broad array of independent and Catholic schools on both coasts. Hadley's role as Assistant Head of School and Director of Enrollment Management at SCBA bring all of her passions together. Maria holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Maine, and Elementary Education Licensure from Regis College. She has many years of experience teaching across the elementary school grades. A mother of four daughters and a proud grandmother, Mrs. Smith brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to her position. Mrs. Smith works closely with Mr. Boren to provide professional development opportunities and mentorship to faculty and likewise oversees curriculum development. Mrs. Karen Celano, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has served in a variety of teaching, administrative, and volunteer roles at Catholic schools in New York and Boston. Karen has her Bachelor’s in History from Johns Hopkins University, her Masters in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, and has completed graduate coursework in Religious Studies from Yale University. In her pursuit of an authentic understanding of education, she was inspired by a classical Catholic education's vision of forming children to seek the True, the Good, and the Beautiful and so to fulfill their vocations as sons and daughters of God and [...]

Alex has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Virginia Tech. Before moving to Massachusetts, Mr. Newsome taught fifth grade for eleven years in Virginia and Maryland. Mr. Newsome says, “SBCA offers the perfect blend of Catholic and classical education to help form saints and scholars. Riley has a B.A. in Peace and Justice Studies from Saint Anselm College and a M.A. Theology and Ministry from Boston College. Mrs. Casey says, “Faith and service have been cornerstones of my life so I am grateful God led me to St. Benedict Classical Academy where I can proudly live out my faith each day while I serve this community in whatever way is needed.” Mrs. Casey lives in Franklin, MA, with her husband and two children. rcasey@stbca.org

Ivy has her B.S. in Biology from Quinnipiac University and her Masters Degree in Public Health from Boston University. Mrs. Schmalzried has always been enthusiastic about her Catholic faith and connecting people to share in the Good News of the Gospel.
